LibreELEC is a Independent-family Linux distribution based on Independent. Just enough OS for Kodi — a dedicated home theater media appliance booting directly into cinema.
Strengths: Boots directly into Kodi in 5 seconds; Control everything with your TV remote via HDMI-CEC; Handles 4K HDR playback smoothly on cheap mini-PCs and Raspberry Pis. Trade-offs: Read-only locked OS; strictly for home theater media playback.
